Kathy Schroeder
January 11, 1937 - June 22, 2009
My Aunt Kat passed away earlier this week. Great-aunt, I think? Technically she is my mother's aunt, but Aunt Kat is the only thing I've ever called her.
She'd been battling lung cancer for the past few years. The day she died, laying in a hospital bed, covered in tubes, wires, and O2 mask, she told everyone she's still going to fight. Unfortunately, she lost.
Grandmommie, one of her sisters, has been beside herself. Gran is the youngest of her siblings, and Kat was the first one to leave.
Kat's husband has been very calm, though he cried a few times at the funeral. Their daughter and grandson were hardest hit, I think. She lost her mom, and he lost (as he described her)not just his Nana but his best friend.
I've only told one story about Aunt Kat here before, so now ( I'll share another. )

Dynamic Tests by ~Lazra on deviantART
Just playing with the new dynamic cloth plugin. It's great, but only works with Daz-created dynamic clothes (of which there's only 5 outfits, all for the same doll). This was discovered using freebies, so no skin off my nose...but they were such cute freebies *pout* and nothing for the boys yet.

Since Daz will now support all the prettiness in dynamic form, I went to a few 3D content sites to update my wishlists. Whilst poking around Content Paradise, I stumbled across this.

My main character on WoW leveled this morning and is about to level again. I've also got a metric ton of crap to sell in the Auction House. :D
My cats destroyed my ancient stylus pad, so I get to buy a new one. :D
DazStudio is finally supporting dynamic cloth. :D
I had a brownie for breakfast. :D
It's not even my birthday yet, and all is awesome in my world. *^___^*

| More Recipe Goodness |

1 Potato, sliced thin
Sweet Onion, chopped
ExVir Olive Oil
Salt/Pepper
Put sliced potato in a bowl with a handful of chopped onion. Drizzle olive oil to lubricate. S&P to taste. Toss together to coat potato/onion. Wrap loosely in foil. Bake for 45mins at 400F.

This recipe was discovered when I went to make some au gratin cheesy potatoes. Then I realized I didn't know the flour-to-milk ratio for the gratin. Decided to look it up on the internet. Then decided not to, as I discovered I didn't have any flour. Quickly perused the pantry and made the above.
I really liked the bit of sweetness the onions gave. YUM!!!

Lindy had her stitches out this week. She was not happy to be back in the carrier, but she was super-happy once we got back home.
And she's...different. If she didn't have unique markings, I'd swear someone switched out cats. Ever since the surgery, my little lurking kitty has been a cuddle monster. If I sit somewhere, she has to be in my lap. If I'm on the computer, she's roaming the desk, screaming for ear scratches. If I'm trying to sleep, she's on my face, and I have to learn how to breathe through kitty fur.
But hey, happy healthy...I won't complain.

I has a new car! :D
Not new new. New-to-me new. It was my Grandma's, and she is a stereotypical "little old lady" with her cars. The first things she bought for this car was...towels...so the seats don't get messed up. They match the interior perfectly too. She left them and bought new towels for her new car. (Gotta match those interiors!)
She wanted to just give me the car, and tried to refuse the money I gave her. I had to "threaten" her, saying that mom would punish me if I didn't pay for the car. (I don't live with or depend financially on my mom, so how she would punish me, I have no idea.) She relented, then turned around and used the money for new tires, oil, inspection, detail wash, etc etc etc... Spent every penny sprucing/fixing the car before she would give me the keys.
In short, it might as well be a new new car.

Lindy, my now-7yo kitty, just had surgery. The surgery amounted to a spaying, so no big, eh?
I wish. ( Cut for TMI of noxious fluids. ) But she's home now, lurking under the bed and pretending the other cats don't exist.
I need chocolate.

An angel by request, but a demon by choice.
This was inspired by my angel pic, but was also a cheer-up for myself because my toilet flooded this morning. Since I'm too wiggy about people coming into my home while I'm not there, I opted to take holiday time from work and wait since the guy said he'd send someone today. "Today" turned out to be 4pm. I usually leave work at 5....yeah.
This comes with the bonus suck of today was the chip and dip party at work. Someone owes me homemade cheesy salsa dip with sweet tea, dammit. *sulk*

....Yeah, I read it.
Curiosity got me started. Something with that much wank attached cannot be ignored. So I read book one. Wasn't impressed with the writing, but I was interested enough to want to know what happens in book two.

*drops to her knees* Dear God/Allah/Flying-Spaghetti-Monster, thankyouthankyouthankyou for giving me a coworker who is a library-phile, and is willing to grab books-on-cd for us to listen to whilst we shuffle paper mindlessly at our tasks, therefor I did not spend one blessed penny on this garbage. Request by random stranger on DA for a pretty angel boy with orange hair and blue eyes, wearing denim cutoffs.
I still don't quite like the shorts. (I had to give them a custom paint job as I don't have any denim in that doll's arsenal.) But overall, I do like him a lot.

PS: Whilst making nummy grilled-cheese sammich, managed to fry the very tip of my finger. Owie...
